Join us at El Pueblo History Museum for our Hands-On History Fall Friday Classes from September 5th-December 5th, 2025. Hands-On History provides safe, engaging learning opportunities for elementary & middle school students on Fridays when kids are not in school.

Art Adventures
Students will immerse themselves in art history as they learn about a variety of historic and contemporary artists. Join us as we explore new art techniques and experiment with different materials as we create different types of art in this fun and exciting environment.
Festive Folklórico Dance (Class for Younger and Older Students)
Celebrate the vibrant traditions, culture, and history of Mexico through folklórico dance! This high-energy movement class will introduce students to the vibrant world of traditional Mexican folk dance through the exploration of regional styles, footwork, and choreography.
Stitch It Up (Class for Younger and Older Students)
Dive into the cozy world of fiber arts in this hands-on learning class. Students will learn the basics of crochet, knitting, sewing, and more through the creation of handmade projects.
Tales of Our Town (Class for 1st-3rd Grade)
Every town has a story– come uncover the people, places, and moments that shaped ours! Through this interactive class students will learn the history of Pueblo, Colorado, from learning about the indigenous people that first lived in this area to present-day Pueblo. Topics will include the formation of the El Pueblo Trading Post; how immigrants built and supported the Steel Mill; the natural disaster that destroyed the downtown business district and changed it forever; and much more!
Pueblo Pioneers (Class for 4th-8th Grade)
Step back in time and discover the skills that helped early homesteaders thrive in the West! Students will gain an appreciation for the self-sufficiency and resourcefulness of past homesteaders by partaking in traditional homesteading practices. Activities will include candlemaking, gardening, tortilla making, and many other self-sustaining skills!
