Join us at the Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center for our Hands-On History Fall Friday Classes from September 11th-December 4th, 2026. Hands-On History provides safe, engaging learning opportunities for elementary & middle school students on Fridays when kids are not in school.

Discover the power of earth, water, air, and fire in this exciting hands-on science adventure! Explore how the four elements shape Colorado’s mountains, weather, rivers, and history through experiments, art, games, and outdoor-inspired activities. From erupting volcanoes to rushing rivers and windy weather wonders, this class brings the forces of nature to life!
Class 3: Dig! Archaeology in Action
Grab your tools and uncover the past in Dig! Archaeology in Action! Explore how artifacts, fossils, and historic sites like Fort Garland help us learn about Colorado’s early settlers, soldiers, and frontier life. Through hands-on excavation activities and mystery discoveries, piece together clues from Colorado’s rich history like real archaeologists!

The daily rate for attendance is $25 or $300 for the semester. Complete the registration process to indicate the tuition assistance options you qualify for.
