Welcome to "Swing Kids! Growing up in the 1940s" – an unforgettable experience designed to transport children on a captivating journey to the heart of 1940s America. Our immersive day camp offers young historians the opportunity to live, learn, and play as if they were growing up in this iconic decade.
Camp Dates and Duration:
Our 1940s-themed day camp runs from December 18th to the 22nd, providing Denver area campers with five days of excitement, learning, and fun.
1940s History Immersion: Educators will lead engaging sessions teaching campers about the significant events, influential figures, and everyday life in the 1940s, including the 10th Mountain Division, the Tuskegee Airmen, Rosie the Riveter, Japanese internment camps, and more.
Vintage Arts and Crafts: Campers will get hands-on with vintage-inspired arts and crafts projects, such as making patriotic posters, crafting model airplanes, creating their own period appropriate games, and exploring fashion through paper dolls.
Swing Dance Lessons: Campers will learn the moves of the 1940s swing dance, an essential skill for any aspiring 1940s time traveler.
Victory Garden: Campers will plant and tend to a victory garden, just like families did during World War II. They'll learn about rationing, food preservation, and the importance of community support.
Music and Radio Shows: Campers will listen to and participate in old-time radio shows, complete with sound effects and storytelling, bringing the radio entertainment of the 1940s to life.
Join us as we step back in time to the 1940s, where history comes alive, friendships are forged, and memories are made that will last a lifetime. Give your child the opportunity to experience the magic of this bygone era and the chance to grow, learn, and have a blast at our unique day camp.
