Join us for our Hands-On History Spring Friday Classes hosted at Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center from January 30 to April 24, 2026. Hands-On History provides safe, engaging learning opportunities for elementary school students on Fridays when kids are not in school. Class Themes: Books Ahoy! Celebrating Voices that Inspire Get ready to sail away on a journey of imagination through books! Join our amazing librarian for a fun hour of storytelling, book chats, and creativity as we explore stories that shine a light on courage, creativity, and change! From Black History Month to Women’s History and Autism Acceptance, we’ll discover inspiring voices from history through today. History & Heritage Travel back in time to explore the rich history of the San Luis Valley. Courage, conflict, community, and adventure await you in the tales of the frontier of the past with History and Heritage! Snack Factory Get ready to mix, mash, and munch at Snack Factory—the coolest (and yummiest) class in town! Dive into hands-on fun, making colorful, healthy snacks. From ancient grains to modern treats, we’ll explore how people around the world have snacked through the ages. This class is perfect for young foodies with big imaginations—let’s turn snack time into party time! Get Your Move On! Intro to Martial Arts Ready to kick, jump, and power up? Join Get Your Move On: Introduction to Martial Arts and discover the exciting world of martial arts through high-energy games, fun drills, and beginner-friendly moves! Along the way, explore the rich history and traditions of martial arts from around the world. Build confidence, strength, and focus—let’s get moving!
