Join us at the Trinidad History Museum for our Hands-On History Fall Full Day Fridays from September 8th to December 15th. Hands-On History provides safe, engaging learning opportunities for elementary & middle school students on Fridays when kids are not in school.

Class Themes run for the duration of each month:

September- Creating Color

From dyeing wool yarn with plants from our gardens, to paints from food waste, and even to tie-dye techniques--we'll learn all about where we get color and how we can use it! Students will learn about natural dye techniques, color theory, uses of colors throughout history, and create unique artwork and textiles!

October- Harvest and Haunts

This month, we'll learn about spooky tales in Southern Colorado history, oral traditions, and their connections to harvest time! We'll discuss the importance of preserving food through winter, the harvest origins of some October traditions, and more! 

November-Inventions and Innovators

We'll build and create while learning about the history of different inventions and the innovations that made them possible! From cars that go to mini robots to our very own roller coasters--this month is all about how far our minds can build!

December- Wandering Winter Wagons

What if we traveled on the Santa Fe Trail in a covered wagon in winter? This month, we'll learn about winter weather, animal adaptations, and wagon travel through Trinidad.
